Yahoo meme – Yahoo’s answer to Twitter?

Is Yahoo meme (read as me-me) Yahoo’s answer to twitter? Yahoo did try their hand at social networking earlier a few times as well but well, either their products were not satisfying or they were not unique and hence they failed! Yahoo meme looks like  the latest attempt by Yahoo to once again enter the social networking market especially – micro blogging.  Yahoo meme is similar to twitter or say has almost everything that twitter has to give and as well some extra features too.

  • No 140 character limit
  • Comments can be added under your meme itself by your friends
  • You can also post Photos
  • Can post LINKS to music files
  • Can post links to videos to YouTube and Vimeo

Have a look at the screenshot below:

While it all looks and sounds good, main problem is Yahoo is not just late but too late to enter this segment. Twitter has already made its precense to every nook and corner of the world. So Yahoo will really have to push themselves to convince people that Yahoo meme is better than twitter and make them switch to it. Sounds pretty hard to me!

Yahoo meme looks good, has added features but it doesn’t have any USP of its own. It is nothing but a version 2.0 of twitter or a cross between twitter and tumbler. So at least i am not memeing unless all my friends switch to Yahoo meme!

It’s good but it’s late. Also very under marketed!
