Internet Speeds and Cost Worldwide Graph

25 December 2009 One Comment

Found an interesting graph yesterday that illustrates the internet speeds and their costs worldwide. The rankings have been given as per ‘ITIF Broadband Rankings’. To be precise, it illustrates the cost of 1mbps connection and the average speed in the top 20 nations of the world.

The graph shows Japan having the highest broadband speed of 61mbps on average at the cost of $0.27 per mbps. While U.S. has an average speed of 4.8mbps costing $3.33 per mbps. India of course, stands no where in the list. But if its speed were to be measured I am sure India will have average speed of not more than 115kbps (that too unreliable) while a 1mbps unlimited connection costs about Rs.1600 or about $34 per mbps in India making it one of the costliest and slowest country when it comes to broadband. And still BSNL advertises India having lightning fast speed!
