If you have a Dell Studio 15 laptop and think that it has a much lower sound volume than you wanted then you are wrong. Thing is, it’s more of a software problem than a hardware one. All Studio 15 comes with Dell IDT drivers or similar for your speakers. It’s because of this drivers that the sound is lower. All you need to do is just uninstall this and use the default Vista drivers and the sound will increase by 30% without exception! Here’s how you do it.
- Right click on My Computer -> Properties -> Device Manager.
- In the Device Manager Window, scroll down to Sounds, Video and Game Controller.
- Click on theĀ “+” located on the on the left hand side of Sounds.
- You will see many drivers installed there; something like 5-6.
- You should find something named “IDT drivers“
- Right click on it and click Uninstall.
- If you have more than one IDT Drivers listed there, remove all.
- Restart your laptop.
- Vista will automatically install new sound drivers for you upon restarting. In case the drivers are not installed, just install your Vista Installation CD and restart again.
- YOU ARE DONE!
Now you will have 30% more sound than you had earlier. Try playing your favorite songs and compare the difference. Reason why Dell shipped the Studios with those drivers is only known to them!

How does using these drivers affect the headphone and mic/line-in jacks?
Will the laptop still know the difference between a line in source and a device mic? what about if you use the jacks for surround sound? the IDT control panel allows for assigning front, rear center/sub. Is this affected?

It will be of great help if you can provide me the link to download original vista drivers or send me a copy of these drivers on my email id

^^ Just update using the windows update and that should restore the Windows drivers. After that restart your PC and it should work fine.
