I wanted to buy a hosting for myself as I had more than 2 sties going good by now and I didn’t want to depend on free hosts. Till now I was using byethost as free host and never faced any problems with them. Their support too was great and hence I thought to go with paid hosting at byethost itself. After initial research, I confirmed that they don’t have much of negative reviews. Also I checked out other hosts for pricing and speed and found byethost to be great in this aspect. So I made up my mind and went ahead with it.

Registered a profile, selected the plan and finally it was about payment. I had already confirmed that they accept paypal and hence was ready with my paypal account. However, the problem was, my paypal has an expired Credit Card and I didn’t have any other valid credit card. I only have a debit card. Paypal without valid Credit Card cannot be used for payment for any product or a service that is recurring. Hosting is recurring and hence Paypal was out of question!

I didn’t have any other option to pay. I tried adding my debit card but it doesn’t work. Paypal accepts debit cards only from a few countries. Also, tried paying to byethost using debit card but there too they won’t accept it! I was desperately looking for some other mode of payment which was easy, secure and involved less transaction cost. The only other payment option at Byethost was 2checkout. I hadn’t used 2checkout before. I selected it and clicked ‘Pay’. Great thing is 2checkout allows you to pay by your debit card! I tried and everything went smoothly! And there I was, behind the paid line!

The thing is, it’s a viscious circle is you don’t have a Credit Card. It works like this:

Credit Card -> Payment

OR

Credit Card -> Paypal -> Payment

Without a credit card, very few options are left as debit cards are not accepted everywhere and only US bank accounts are accepted! Although, I don’t know what other web hosts or merchants accept 2checkout, you sure can keep an eye those who accept it and make hassle free payment!
