Diskmax is a free software that scans and cleans up your system of left over Windows files, logs, dead shortcuts and files that are no longer needed by the system. It also deletes all the temp files and files left over by other applications even after uninstalling them. I would advice you to run this program in ‘Detailed’ mode at least once a week! The first time you run it, I assure you, it will clean at anything between 200MBs to 5GB’s of your hard drive space depending on how poorly organised your PC was earlier!

2. Advanced System Care

This software comes in free version as well as pro version. Free version too is more than enough for your needs. It mainly scans your system registry for errors and fixes them. Also checks for malware and spyware and deletes them. It also has a in-built disk cleaner, that will scan your system for unnecessary and unused files and delete them. Apart from this, it comes with a start-up manager, task manager, system settings etc.

3. CC Cleaner

This is yet another great free system cleaner. As per the site, it claims to clean your browser files, registry files, system files, files left over by uninstalled applications and spyware cleaner. I have read quite good reviews about it everywhere as well.

The much awaited Microsoft Office 2010 has been released (beta version) for public  downloads and for beta testers. Among the features in office 2010 is the social networking connector that allows users to get their social networking feeds into Outlook. Microsoft also released the Mobile Office 2010 to used on Windows 6.5 smartphones and is available to download at the Windows Market place.

The final version of the Office 2010 is expected to be released by the first half of the next year. You can download your copy of beta version from here.

How to Connect:

1.  First install your required bluetooth drivers for Windows 7 (if you haven’t already).

2.  Click on “Add New’ devices on the bluetooth icon in the taskbar. Make sure your phone’s bluetooth is turned on and visible.

3.  Windows will search for your device(s) and will display the same. Select your mobile and click ‘Next’.

4.  Windows will give you an auto-generated passkey which you will have to enter in your mobile.

5.  Windows then installs the drivers for your mobile and upon installing you will get the following screens:

Also you will get a icon of your mobile in your ‘My Computer’  window. Just double click on it and it will open a new window to perform all the operations like making calls, using your computer’s speakers and mic to talk while on call, transfer files to and fro your mobile, connect to internet and more. Have a look.

Once you get here, you can do everything from your PC and can control your phone to a large extent. The best part I liked about is the – Internet! Most of the mobile providers have started charging separately for PC internet through your mobile but using this you can use your mobile internet to surf the net! Although it will be slow but you can at least use it to check your mails and finish off any important work. So no more paying those extra bucks just for a few minutes of surfing on the net.

Tip:

If you have problems connecting your mobile to windows, I would advise you to first update windows using the ‘Windows Update’ and then try again. Alternatively, you can even check if you got any drivers CD with your mobile and make use of that as well.

Some Details:

The installer (Windows6.0-KB948465-X86.exe) is of 348.3 MB and would take around 3 hours on a 256kDSL/Cable  connection. Vista Service Pack 1 is however a prerequisite for installing SP2. You won’t be able to install it directly without SP1. Along with the SP2 Windows Server 2008 SP2 is also released and available for download. The much awaited Windows 7 Release Candidate Version was released by Microsoft for free download on 5th May, 2009.  Unlike the earlier beta version, this version will open to download at least till end of July with no restrictions on download. You can freely use this version and distribute it, as is, among your friends and relatives. The version will be functional till March 2010 and you would need to by a new licensed copy after that to continue using it. You would be given warnings two weeks prior to it’s expiration date and the RC copy will shut down after every two hours post it’s expiration date usage!

Here’s what you need to know:

This is pre-release software, so please read the following to get an idea of the risks and key things you need to know before you try the RC.

• You don’t need to rush to get the RC. The RC will be available at least through July 2009 and we’re not limiting the number of product keys, so you have plenty of time.
• Watch the calendar. The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you’ll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010. You’ll also need to install the programs and data that you want to use. (Learn more about installing Windows.)
• Protect your PC and data. Be sure to back up your data and please don’t test the RC on your primary home or business PC.
• Tech details/updates: Before installing the RC, please read the Release Notes and Things to Know for important information about the release.

• Keep your PC updated: Be sure to turn on automatic updates in Windows Update in case we publish updates for the RC.
• Installation: You can install the Windows 7 RC on a PC running Windows Vista without backing up the PC—but we encourage you to make a backup for safe keeping. If you’re running Windows XP or the Windows 7 Beta, you’ll need to backup your data, then do a clean installation of the RC, then reinstall your applications and restore your data. • 16 GB available disk space (32-bit) / 20 GB (64-bit)
• DirectX 9 graphics processor with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

It’s much lighter as compared to Vista and takes about 10GB of space upon complete installation including the pagefile and hybernate file! I will be coming up with a review on Windows 7 shortly.
